None of the people in this district speak Irish, but they use many Irish words and sayings. The oldest man in this district is Patrick Gill. (Tank, B) Tang. Ballymahon. He is one hundred and three years old. The Boundaries of this district are: North: a little lane leading up to Corrigans Forge, South: The workhouse road, East: The white wall which is about a furlong out the Bog Lane, West: A stream named the Sruthán. Here is a saying in which Ballymahon is mentioned. "Ballymahon and Ballymore. I for Tyrrell's Pass and the same for Tullamore.["] There are many houses in ruins in this district but they are many new houses also. A great number of people emigrated to England and America from this in the last twenty years. all the land around this district is very good.
