  1. Here is Tang about one hundred years ago lived a hedge-schoolmaster named Dr. Davis. He taught in a little house somewhere near Thomas Murtagh's (but his home was on the end of our farm). The little field is still known as Dr.'s Garden.
He must have been cross as some of the boys coming home from school one night wrote with chalk five huge D's. on the gable end of Shawn Murtagh's house (opposite the priests house) underneath were the words -: Devil Double Damn Dr. Davis.
