  1. St. Messa is the patron Saint of Kilmessan. He had his church at the back of Mr. Donnelly's house in this village. This church was but a small one. It was on high mound. This mound was about fifty feet in height.
    Then Saint Messa had a thatched chapel beside the back of Mrs O'Brien's garden in this village. This church was in use for many years.
