  1. Travelling people do call at our home.
They have been doing so for about fifty years.
Some of them sell small articles such as, prayer books, beads, candle sticks, pictures and such things.
People do buy from them. They obtain there articles sometimes in the local shops, and in the town. The travellers are always welcome.
Some times they remain longer than a night. Some of them have tents, and caravans to sleep in, and sometines they sleep in farmer's outhouses.
They have some food with them. The alms they accept are anything in the line of estables, and coppers. Some of them travel on foot, and others are well supplied with horses, and asses.
Some travel singly, and others in bands.
The best known of them are Jacksons, Joyce's and O'Donovans. Joyces, and Jacksons are the families that most frequently visit our district.
They nearly always come around about a fair day.
