  1. No poets lived in this district as far back as we can remember, but my great grandfather composed poetry such as "John Barley Corn", and several others whose names my mother can not remember.
    He used to quote the following words,

    "Let each man learn to know himself,
    To gain that knowledge let him labour,
    To find the fail within himself,
    Before he finds it in his neighbour".
