  1. The most popular Game in this district next to hurling is the old game of Skittles which is played every evening in summer at the Dundrum Cross. It is a simple game to learn. You place five sticks each three inches long on the ground thus -
    Each stick has a number on top 1.2.3.4.5.
    Then the players have three larger sticks to throw. They stand five yards back from the skittles on the ground. The first player throws his three. The numbers of the skittles he knocks out of the ring are counted. Then the next player take his shots. Any number can play provided there are
