There is a road in Lackin called "Botair an Poll". Why it got its name is, there is a bog near it and it contained a lot of turf and all the turf was one side when the road was being made and they had to dig a lot of turf thereby making holes.
There was a ford in Aughavolimane Co. Tipperary. Long ago there was no bridge there only stepping stones where the people used pass over. The bridge was built in1849. It is called "The Bandlemans Ford" on account of a weed which grows there or after a resident of that name.
