  1. It is likely that graveyards existed in numbers in Bruff in years gone by. An old native of the village, stated some years ago, that a church in the vicinity of the town, was formerly Catholic, but now is Protestant. A graveyard adjoining it was also Catholic, but now also, it is a graveyard for Protestants.
    In years past, there was but one way for passing over the river, but a new road was later made, and in this way a graveyard which was said to be near the river, was completely cut out. Gateways, which are now blocked by stones, are still visible and inside the walls of the graveyard a little church once stood, but even the ruins have now disappeared, and only a bare patch of ground is now visible to the human eye.
    A little laneway, still inhabited, is leading off the main street, and here in this spot, not far from the forge the Catholic church once stood, but has long since been abandoned, owing to the cause,
