  1. Once upon a time a fool was sent by his brother to a fair to sell a cow. The jobber that bought the cow only gave him half the price of the cow and the brother was very angry. The next fair he sent the fool again to the fair with another cow and went with him this time.
    When the same jobber came up to buy the cow the fool's brother got into the bargain. He told the jobber he would give him the cow if he would give him as much oats as he could count in a half-hour by doubling it from the first grain. The jobber got a pan of
