  1. Currasallagh is the name of my village. It is in the parish of Loughglinn and in the barony of Frenchpark. There are forty six houses in it. Eight of them are slated and thirty eight are thatched. There are four forts in it. "Lafferty" is the most common name in my village. There are twelve people over seventy in it. They tell stories in English. They speak no Irish they all speak English. There are three ruined houses in it also, but people lived in them one time. They are gone to America or to England now. There one hundred and seventy six people in it. Currasallagh got its name because long ago there were a lot of sally rods growing in it.
Others maintain that it got its name from the wet, boggy, marshy lowlying nature of the land.
