  1. "Freyne the Robber" is supposed to have hidden treasure in Lac na Garra about two miles from Inistioge. His cave is supposed to be there too. My father and Mr. J. Letterell went to dig for it but they did not succeed in getting it. He is supposed to have hidden silver. The people say he had his money at the end of a tree in that woodland. He could see it shining from the far side of the river and on going over he could not find it.

  2. In a certain cave about a quarter of a mile from Brownsbarn bridge and about two miles from Inistoige a member of pikes and guns are supposed to be hidden. The story goes that after the failure
