  1. About the year 1933 there was a great flood in the Nore. There was a great amount of damage done as it rose to a great height. In Thomastown it came over the quay and swept through the streets. In one draper's store, the waters burst through the back door and windows and out through the front doors and windows and damaged a great amount of goods as well as sweeping a great amount more. It covered the streets in many places and traffic was held up in many places for a couple of days.
