  1. The wake customs of to day are greatly altered to those of years gone by. The usual customs now are.-the people come all day and night and snuff is distributed at the wake. The old custom of distributing pipes and tobacco is now dying out.

  2. The usual funeral customs in this district are:-the corpse is taken to the cemetery in what is called a hearse. Before the funeral, men are paid to make the grave into which the coffin is put. Then the grave is filled in and a green sod covers it.
    If a wreath is to be put on the grave it is put at the place where the deceased persons head lies. The people kneel down and say prayers.
