  1. There are four tailors in this parish.
There are no tailors in Cromane but about four years ago there were two.
They work in their own homes but long ago they went from house to house and remained in each house until the work needed was finished.
The people of the house kept and fed them.
People now buy the material in a draper's shop and take it to a tailor to make up.
A tailor uses a sewing machine, a pair of sissors a heavy iron, an ironing board, an inch tape, a bottomless thimble, needles, thread and a piece of pipe-clay.
While working a tailor always sits on a table with his legs crossed.
Very few shirts are made in the homes here and where they are made the material is bought in the shop..
They are generally made of flannel, cotton and flannelette.
In olden times people wore home-made linen shirts with cuffs and fronts of fine linen.
There were two weavers in this district.
It is over fifty years ago frieze was made in this district.
Stockings are knit in the homes here but the thread is bought in the shops.
