  1. The years of the famine were (1845 and 1846) the worst years ever Ireland had. The potato crops failed. The crop was good enough to look at but when the potatoes were touched they just went in to smash hundreds died of hunger.
    It was pitiful to see able bodied men and women going through the streets looking for food. They poked through dung hills and other places hoping to find something to appease their hunger.
