  1. Herbs are not cultivated in this country as in other countries. They grow wild in this district and not being put to much advantage are considered a nuisance by some people. Long ago people believed widely in the use of herbs for cures and dyes.
    Rose noble, bogbean, and dandelion, when build and strained, make a good spring tonic.
    Mint and thyme are used for soups and sauces. Tansy boiled and applied to the face and hands rids them of freckles.
    Belladonna and poppy are poisonous their juice when applied outwardly relieves swelling.
