  1. St Patricks or St Brigid's Crosses not placed in the houses in this district. St Brigids Cross used be made with rushes and hung over the kitchen, dairy and (byre) cow house door, because St Brigid was the patron of house wifes and milkers.
    Holly is hung up in the houses on Christmas Eve. May flowers (wild marsh marigolds ) are gathered on May Eve and placed at wells and doors round the farm house.
    Palm is blessed in the Church on Palm Sunday. The servers place it near the Alter Rails and after Mass each person takes a piece of palm to hang in his or her bedroom. It is burned on the following Palm Sunday and new palm put in its' place
