  1. The farm and domestic animals at home are:
    cows, sheep cats rats.
    calves, pigs dogs donkeys.
    horses, goats, mice mules.
    The cow house is called the byre. The cows are tied by means of a chain round their neck. They are milked at eight o'clock in the morning and at night. The eat grass, hay, straw, turnips, mangolds and cabbage. They get drinks of boiled meal and pulped potatoes in winter.
    The horses house is called the stable. It usually has a cobble stone floor. There is a little cupboard in the wall of the stable in which is kept brushes, harness oil, and cleaning cloths and a curry-comb. Our horses are called Dan and Polly.
