  1. Long long ago people had to travel far distances to buy goods Sometimes corn and flax were exchanged for goods. People often got goods on 'tik' that is without paying for them. This is not the same as the higher purchase system. The shop keeper gave the goods on a promise that he would receive payment when the farmer had some beast to sell.
    Pedlars used go around selling things and they collected rags, feathers, horse hair and bottles Sovreigns and crown pieces are very rarely seen now a days. Far are gone out of use also. Old people around here used tie money and small parcels in large red handkerchiefs which they carried on their shoulders. There were no
