Near Bonniconlon our hero was again fighting a duel with a marksman equally as good as himself. They both fired simultaneously but neither was hit or even felt the whizz of the bullets. What happened was the two bullets met midway and fell flat to the ground. The referee prevented them from proceeding as he said they were too good to fight and longer as both were likey to be fatally wounded and it would be a great loss to lose such true marksmen.
