- St Martins Day falls on the eleventh of November each year. In this locality it is a custom that a fowl should be killed such as a hen or a chicken or a goose and the blood sprinkled in the four corners of the house.
Another custom is to sprinkle some of the blood on a piece of cloth an keep it this is a cure for a head-ache.
The cloth is used by tying it across the persons head who has the pain. It is also a custom that no mll wheel should turn on that day because St Martin was killed in a mill. A strange story is told about a Dutch-man who had an oil-mill in Bally-Liddane in the land of Dr Roche Kelly.
