- The principal animals on my fathers farm are cows, calves, sheep, bullock, heifers, horses, ponies and pigs. In all farms from two to twenty cows are kept and in very large farms about forty cows are kept.
Each cow is distinguished by her name such as the black cow, the whitehead, the polly, the roan cow and the red cow. Cows are very useful animals because they usually give milk in abundance. Some farmers sent the milk to the creamery and others keep it at home and make butter of it.
Each cow has a calf every year and these too are distinguished by their names(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
