  1. Last July 1938 a fisherman set his line and hooks for eel in Hollybank Lake at Arva. During the night an eel that got caught dragged the line under the head of a deer which was on the bottom of the lake. Next morning the fisherman drew up the head of the deer and the eel. The head was 19 inches in length, and each horn about 30" in length. The width from tip to tip was 4 feet. Each horn had six branches five of which remained on one. On looking at the skull you would imagine it had been sewed downwards from the top of the skull to the mouth. Other lines resembling those made by a sewing machine on cloth were to be seen in it also. It looked as if certain bones had been neatly stitched. Mr Pat Sheridan Arva informed the National Museum authorities of the find. An official came to see it and took it away. I presume it is now in the National Museum.
