  1. One time there was a man who was very fond of playing cards. He was giving out the cards and one of them fell. He stooped down to lift it and he saw a cloven hoof under the table. He stopped playing cards and went home. As he was going by a crossroads something pulled his overcoat off him. He got weak and so he sat down on the road for a few minutes. When he was getting up to go home his coat was beside him. He went home and stopped playing cards any more. He said it was the Devil and that card playing was unlucky.
