    I strove a while to listen While he to her did say
    "It's early in the month of March
    I'm bound for America."

    She says "Now Tom you are quite wrong
    To leave the shamrock shore,
    There's danger in America not like the days of yore,
    For you might fall by a cannon ball
    And that against your will
    And never more return home to lovely Garrett's hill."
