  1. About seventy or eighty years ago there lived two men in the townland of Carrigabruse - Edward Kane and Peter Fitzsimons. The latter, who is still alive, dreamt that there was a bag of gold buried in the nearest fort to him and that it was guarded by a great, black, dog. He was directed to dig for the treasure on a certain Sunday whilst the people were attending Mass. So with Mr Kane to help he started off, but, as they believed, supernatural power won the victory, and they, on feeling a strange sensation of fear, gave up the job.
