Poem
“Poem composed by a local drawing attention to the breaking down of some stone ditches in the neighbourhood by some unknown persons - presumably erring youths.”
Verse 1.
Good night, Jack-a-vic, mo chree or
shall I say good morrow.
But did you hear the latest from the
dance down in Killdorro?
Some silly scamps going from a dance
with naught but evil wishes
Thought it fun for all to cause to fall
their neighbours' high stone ditches
Verse 2.
Villainy these times is rife and goes on
both late and early
Such ugly traits as breaking gates is
very wrong entirely
These scamps you know have no fear of ghosts
of goblins or of withces
But now they've reason to fear! for the
knocking of stone ditches.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
