- Coolkill is a very large townland extending from the borders of Kilnaleck to the townland of Drumrora. It is also thickly populated but still only about half what it was in former days. It comprises four hundred acres and there are twenty eight families in the townland. It is divided in to farms averaging from eight to twelve acres. The inhabitants live principaly on pig and poultry, raising. Although situated on a hill, it is very fertile and good for raising potatoes and oats. There is no Irish speaking families in the district. Ten or fifteen years ago you could see some silver headed old Croneys wearing the neck cap surmounted by borders. In some places the remains of the spinning wheel reel and Hackles are still to be seen. There is a very narrow lane leading from the public road through Coolkill.
