1. An Account of a Local Landlord Belonging to the District Long Ago

   Morton was a landlord who lived in a place called Kilnacrott which is situated about three miles from the village of Kilnacrott. It was he who built the big house which is known as the Priory and he had such a craze for building houses that he kept building until he finally he lost all his means and for this reason he was called "Mad Morton". He had a coach and in this he used to drive around. He tried to make roads to suit himself around the village of Kilnaleck. After his death many people in the district claim to have seen his coach been driven around the roads in the dead hours of the night. Even still plenty of the old country people tell you that his coach travels from the Priory gate down the bog road and down through the creamery yard to the end of the town. There it turned and went up the green and down by the mill lane and went on towards Kill Graveyard. The coach is driven by four horses with no heads and a man
