  1. There are three tailors in Arvagh, namely James Shanaghy, Christopher O.Shea and William Farrelly. The first two have a good business and have assistants to help them.
    People from many parts come to have clothes made with them as they are very good tailors.
    They sew in their own houses instead of going about from place to place.
    When anyone wants a suit made they go and get their measure taken, he goes to the tailor with the material and lining and soon after he gets the suit fitted and if it needs to be altered the tailor does so.
    The tailor charges about 30/= for making a suit. One of these tailors OShea has a great trade in making ladies costumes.
    It is said he can do them better then the men's suits.
    Long ago a tailor used to come every week and sew in the houses round here.
    Socks are still knitted around here both by hand and by machine
