There is a corn mill in Arvagh and it is still used for the making of oat meal.
Long ago there was a flax mill but this is gone to ruin now.
A number of men were employed in it, and the flax was grown locally. There are still several flax holes to be seen in the fields around. These holes were filled with flax after it was pulled and when it was well soaked it was taken to the mill to be scutched.
After that the flax was sent to the North of Ireland where it was made into linen.
