- In olden days bread was made from corn, rye, and wheat. The flour was made in the corn mill. This mill is situated on a place which is called the "Mill Rock", this mill is now owned by a man named Mr. Greene, and it is still used for grinding corn. A cross was cut out on the top of every cake so as to keep the crust from separating. Some people baked the bread in a pot-oven, while others baked it on a pan over a turf fire. Bran bread was made similar to the wheatens bread of to-day.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
