    was unfit for use.
    A sawmills in Rathnew employing forty men was burned to the ground in 1923 According to the people around nobody really knows how it actually happened.
    Twenty ton of firewood was burned in spite of all efforts that were made.
    In 1930 a man from Wicklow named Mr Connor was killed at Rathnew while working as a miles man on the railway.
    It appears the man was returning home from his usual work on a windy day.
    He did not hear the train coming until it was up behind him and had not time to get out of the way and so he was killed.
    Later he was conveyed on an old door by gardai to a neighbouring house where an inquest was held. That was in 1930.
    In 1916 a Rathnew man named Patrick Clare was returning from his work in Wicklow with a neighbour.
