- The hedge sparrows eggs are small and pale blue in colour. The chaffinch and robin both lay a very small egg. The robins is of a brownish colour with white in the middle. The chaffinches is a blueish grey with brown spots. The pheasants is much larger and is of an annamon brown. The thrushes egg is not very large. It is light blue with black specks. All these eggs are oval.
Some people are superstitious at seeing a single magpie. They believe in the saying ;
