    A long time ago a man named Johnny Doyle lived in Knockdrumagh in the parish of Myshall. He earned his living by mowing with a scythe. He left his home one night, and went to a carpenters shop about a mile from his his home to get his scythe fixed.
    When this was done he left the forge at about 11.30 and went a short cut across the fields which he knew perfectly well. The fairies took possession of him when he had gone about half a mile and he was kept travelling all night. He was found by another man asleep at Ballinacrea beyond Myshall about 7.30 in the morning resting on a stop wall with the scythe on his shoulder.
    When he awoke he never could give any account of his travels and he was almost exhausted after the night and had to be carried quietly to his home. He was attended by the doctor but he never got back his memory. He never left his bed afterwards, and he was
