  2. On the occasion of the visit of the Royal Society of Antiquaries to Clonmore in 1936 Professor MacAlister discovered an ogam stone in the centre of the graveyard. The lower portion of the stone was missing through having sunk into the earth or through being broken. Dr. MacAlister deciphered the markings on the stone as the letters ...TRENI and he surmised that the ogam writing when complete showed the name:
MACITRENI (Son of the strong man)
