Ar an leathanach seo

  1. The animals that are kept on the farm are horses, cows, pigs, hens, ducks and turkeys. Each cow has a special name such as white head, blue cow and rone cow. When driving cows in or out from the field, they are made go on by saying How How.
    The cows are kept in the house at night from November till May. Every farmer in this district keeps four or five cows. The cowhouse is a long building made to accomodate about six cows. There are chains for tying the cows around the neck. There is no emblem hung in the cowhouse to bring luck.
    In every farm house the cows are milked at 6 o'clock every evening. In some houses when a cow is milked the Sign of the Cross is made on the cow's side. If anyone touches a swallow's nest the cows are said to milk blood.
    In this district two horses are kept by every farmer. They are clipped in November and February. If a one-year-old goose is set it is said you will lose the
