- Stories of the Holy Family are common all over the country. There is a story told about the Holy Family that one day when they were going along the road our Lady lost the pin of her cloak which she had wrapped round the Holy Infant. St Joseph asked a herd in a field for a thorn which would do for a brooch The herd said he was too busy. He asked a second herd and he made the same excuse, but when they were passing a forge the smith came out and saw the Blessed Virgin without a pin A piece of money The smith took a piece of money from his pocket and beat it into the finest brooch that ever was seen.. Our Lady took the brooch thanked the smith and gave him her blessing. Ever since then a smith who washes in the water which has cooled his irons finds himself refeshed and made stronger.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
