    As we live almost in the middle of Ireland, we see an unusually large number of travelling folk, those who travel from north to south, from east to west, or on these journeys reversed, usually give our town a call. A very great number of people still spend their time travelling the road. Tinkers, gypsies, cattle drovers, jew-men, musical men, singers, etc., from time to time we see them all. Tinkers travel round from place to place in vans. The vans are drawn by horses. The men drive the horses, they also make cans and saucepans from tin. They mend leaks in kettles and pots and tin-cans with solder. The women beg. They sell paper flowers too, and they sell the
