- There are a large number of old place - names in my district, such as Coolegarr, Cruachan Hill, Luachan, and Butler's Corner. Scully's Hill, Madden's Hill, Raheen, Coulien, Gorryhobby, Muneen, Forge Hill, and St. Bridget's are others.
Coolegarr and Luachan are in Mr. Rigley's land in Whitepark near Ferbane.
Cruachan Hill is in a field belonging to Mr. Molloy, Skehanagh.
Butler's Corner is on the side of the road. There is an old story about it.
A man named Butler and his wife and children lived there in the time of the famine. A neighbour went in one morning and the children were roasting potatoes. The neighbour asked the children were their parents in and children said they were asleep, but they were dead.- Bailitheoir
