  1. Ireland is noted for great runners, jumpers, walkers and specially dancers, singers and story - tellers. principally in country districts.
Once upon a time there lived two men in Ballyboy names Messrs. John Carpentar and Michael Rigney who were great walkers.
Every night they used to go to Kilcormac, and if one started just one minute before the other they could not overtake each other.
Mr. Carpentar would go very quick for a few minutes and then stand still, for a while and then go on again. They always swung their hands while walking. They never waited for one another even if there was only one foot between them.
