  1. In olden times people believed it was possible to steal the cream from milk before the cows were milked. One of the plans to steal the cream was to skim the scum from any pong or well on that particular farm. It is believed in this district that when Colmcille was carrying the cross we now call the Durrow cross and looking for a place to build his monastery he decided on Ballykilmurry. He had just laid down the cross as day-break when he saw a little woman
