- Before the raiders plundered St. Carthage's monastery and killed the monks , the monks threw the bell in the Clodagh river which is about fifty yards from the ruins of the monastery.
The water in the place where the bell was supposed to be thrown is warm Summer and Winter. There is no bottom in the river where the bell is. Some people say you could hear the bell ringing in river when it is very windy.
