Ar an leathanach seo

  1. Drumcooley Fort or moat as it is now called is very ancient. The old graveyard nearby was at one time a Franciscan Abbey.
    Many old tales are told by the old inhabitants about this moat. It is the general belief that there are treasures hidden there and are guarded by a monk.
    A passage or underground vault leads from this moat to an ancient Franciscan Abbey in Shean. A graveyard now occupies its site.
    Not many years ago a man was ploughing in the field adjacent to the moat. The plough struck a large stone. Several people collected to lift it and when it was removed it was found to lead into the vault, which was high enough for a man to stand upright in.
