  1. There was a poet in Hayestown named Tom Foley, Hayestown, Taghmon Co. Wexford. This poet was born and reared in Ballavergin, Admstown, Co. Wexford. He spent his early manhood in Hayestown, Taghmon, Co. Wexford with his parents, brothers and sisters. Later he went to America where he spent the rest of his life. He died in St. Louis in the year 1914 and is buried out there.
He composed the present Irish poems and rhymes of the "Mummers." Here are a few of his lines :-
    Here I am Michael Dywer
    Wicklow's insurgent chief
And Ireland free from British rule
    Was ever my belief
He wrote many other poems as well. The power just came to him suddenly. When he was in Hayestown he used to spend nights making poems. He was a man with a very great mind.
