- There is a place in Ballyandrew called Shanak-Isle. It got its name isle because there is an island all around it. There is a lane in Kiltilly called Bat's lane it is called Bat's lane because Bat Hogan's house was built at one end of it. In Ballyroebuck there is a hill called the mill hill. Long ago there was a mill built on it.
There is a road which divides Knocknalour and Bolinrush called the Yellow Lough road. It is called that name because there is a puddle of yellow muddy water on each side of it. There is a field on Mr. Roches land called the Black-knock. It is called that because there is a knock in the top of it.
Some of the names of fields are the Grey-Stone, the Boyne field, Joes Meadow, the Lawn, the Castle Field, O Connors Inch, and the Factory Field.- Faisnéiseoir
