   was shipped from Wexford to England many carters were engaged in conveying it by road to Wexford, 22 miles away. These used to set out in the evening and stop at an inn on the roadside owned by a man named Murphy and named by some The Halfway House, by others The Unyoke a name which it still carries. The same family still occupy that house. Here the carters used to rest and feed there horses and themselves and often enjoy a few hours at cards and punch, then proceed to Wexford to deliver their cargoes. They used to bring back some other commodities often fish which were required here.
   This industry gave a lot of employment. A number of cooperages employed a number of skilled hands in making the firkins and wooden vessels for milk and cream while hoops had also to be made. The cleaning of these vessels kept the women busy while people living on the hill sides often earned a few shillings cutting a few bundles of heather for scrubbing the wooden vessels.
