  1. At the hill of Kilmore there is a blessed well called St Johns well. On drinking the water on the feast of the Saint it will cure any kind of pains. There is also a blessed well in Killcowan which cure warts By visiting the well three times in succession and washing your hands and saying three Hail-Marys the warts will disappear.
    There are other local cures such as dockleaves they cure stings of nettles. By rubbing the leaf on the part that is stung it removes the sting.

    Celery eaten raw is a cure for rheumatism. Ivy-leaves boiled and made into an ointment with is a cure for scalds. The March-Mallow is a cure for bee stings and wounds.
    If your right nostril was bleeding tie a string around your left little finger, and if your left nostril was bleeding tie a string around your right little finger and your nose will stop bleeding.
    If you put the cream of milk on your lips it will keep them from cracking.
