Gay Flora was just in her prime
The white blossomed hedges the air was perfuming.
And larks did melodiously chime.
All creatures seemed cheerful but one joyless bee.
That sung round a rose where it dropped on.
It pensively sung, the repeat seemed [a tree to be
My pale rose will you ne'er bloom again. Some envious blast Love, has blighted you fairly

Ah why. lovely Rose are you dropping so early
Your beauties were only full blown
Now changed are your features from what they have been. You once were the pride of the garden & green
The bordering flowers acknowledge you Queen
My pale Rose will you ne'er bloom again. How pleasant the days, how transporting the hours bowers
I spent with my beautiful fair.
You then were the pink of these green shady.
My cordial when blessed with careWith grief and vexation my sad heart is torn
When I think of the days that will never return
When my darling did flourish both evening and morn(continues on next page)- Collector
