    A crescent o'er the gloomy mill
    Dim light around me throws
    A silhouette the lengthy street
    Banks shops courthouse hotels
    And borne upon the evening breeze

    It surely seemed not so
    When I beheld it as a boy
    Some forty years ago
    In strange array unceasingly
    Familiar forms appear
    Familiar sounds confusedly
    Engage my busy ear
    Long sunflecked rows of Standings gleam
    With guady trinkets bright
    Delph, Bundles of tin porringers
    Flash in the morning light
